contact sent me three letters from kids from around the country. one little boy from georgia asked president obama to stop violence. an 11-year-old girl julia wrote she couldn't bear the not of losing her brothers and sisters -- the thought of losing her brothers and sisters to guns. at this morning's announcement, president obama is expected to push for better enforcement for existing gun laws. he can require keeping data on where guns are. the government stopped keeping track nine years ago. when it comes to the background, president obama can push for more sharing of information and prosecution of people who try to buy guns illegally. the president will need congress's approval to get sweeps changes made and that will not be an easy feat, especially with the nra prodding supporters in congress. we'll tang a look at the nra -- take a look at the nra's new ad tackling president obama's gun proposals when i see you next. >> and ktvu will bring you live coverage. he's scheduled to make that announcement at 8:55 this morning our time. ktvu will be streaming the president's remarks li

exactly in half. the reality is that the half of the country that is open devoting for obama, in fact, voted for him in november still is a strongly pro gun control constituency and the large extent democrats have been paralyze odd this issue by the fear of losing voters they've already lost. mostly blue collar white men, more rural voters. i think the key for the president is going to be to build a coalition that includes not only democrats, but those blue state republicans. that's the big difference between the politics of gun control and congress from the 199 0z until today. in the 1990s those blue state republicans felt pressure to support it. >> you could go through congress, or the president could go to issue an executive order. talk to me first about an executive order. obviously it would have to be around laws that already exist. what are his options potentially on the table? >> pretty limited. i think on executive order, they are going to have elements of executive action in the package that are coming out with this week, but they will acknowledge from the white house themsel

.c., president obama is said to be forging ahead on a wide ranging plan to overhaul the immigration plan this year. this includes a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants already in the country. immigrants would have to pay fines and back taxes. it would require businesses to veri verify employees in the country legally. the president will lay out his annual state of the u.n. address set for february 12th. >> let's take a look at the markets this morning. at this point, the futures outlook is mixed. dow and s&p 500 futures are both indicated higher. fass dak futures are indicated slightly down, down by just over 7 points and i wonder if part of that is because of what is happening with apple. that sdun does the make up a big part of the post shares percentage. if you take a look at europe this morning, you'll see that it was at this point the averages there above fair value are trading higher in the early trade there. in france, cac is up by .4%. germany the dax is up by .6%. the ftse is lightly higher bay few points in london. in asia overnight, you'll see that the hang seng endeded
